Black and white ink illustration of a sweet donkey leaning on a fence. Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I created this drawing by hand using fine marker pens, built up in many layers to create the intricate details of the fur. The domestic donkey (Equus asinus) is a working animal descended from the critically endangered African Wild Ass and are in the same family as horses. In the south of England I'm lucky to be able to see donkeys regularly in fields or free roaming in heathland areas. Many are very curious and will come over to say hello like this one here!
