"The Lord works in mysterious ways" is another, very religious, way of saying "random things occur but maybe for a reason". The Dark Lord is dependable. He has an agenda. He has rules. He'll make you the deal you've always wanted. And he'll make sure there is a catch. I want a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang at the price it sold for in 1971. I assume Satan would sell it to me with a tiny mark-up, and, it would be a demonically-possessed car that craved souls, blood, children, and fossil fuels.
