An angel persons the crank of a mechanical sphere, causing seven heavenly bodies (clockwise from top: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and the Sun) to revolve around the Earth, which remains fixed in the center. From a 1503 book by the Bohemian astrologer Wenzel Faber.
